Melanie Webber, President, mWEBB Communications

Melanie Webber is a specialist in B2B and consumer focused public relations, as well as marketing and internal/corporate communications for public and non-public companies, with deep experience in Technology, Entertainment, Internet/New Media, Lifestyle and Automotive. She founded and runs the award-winning mWEBB Communications, providing hands-on, high-level creative public relations, strategic communications and marketing communications services to a variety of clients in the interactive, social media, digital and automotive verticals. mWEBB Communications won the 2011 American Business Award for Public Relations/Communications Campaign of the Year, Marketing/Consumer Services.

Her extensive entertainment industry background as a theater and film producer (Beauty Marks, Down An Alley, A Modern Affair), story analyst (CAA, Avnet Kerner, etc.) and film journalist (San Francisco Chronicle) equips her with a unique and creative perspective on the entire communications process.

As Vice President of Public Relations at RBI Communications, she drove awareness of Autobytel.com into one of the most visited and recognized online brands both domestically and globally, featured in thousands of print, broadcast and online outlets as an innovator and leader in online automotive commerce and the recipient of numerous prestigious industry awards.

She went on to serve as Vice President of Corporate Communications at publicly-traded Autobytel Inc. for eight years where she spearheaded internal and external communications for six consumer-facing websites (generating millions of visitors), product launches, acquisitions, global initiatives, industry and portal partnerships and employee communications. She also led the marketing communications initiatives to Autobytel's B2B customer base, including thousands of automotive retailers and major automakers.

Melanie is a hands-on communications executive and creative thinker, expert at building brand credibility and driving consumer awareness. An Internet ‘veteran,’ she is experienced in traditional and new media campaigns, event and conference marketing, trade marketing, internal and external communications, and community outreach programs. In addition, she is an experienced media spokesperson, quoted in numerous online and offline publications, as well as broadcast outlets. A graduate of Northwestern University’s School of Communications, her varied background includes media campaigns for AutoMD.com, Restore Hetch Hetchy, Paso Garagiste Festival, izmocars, DrivingSales.com, Mota Mo-tors, DMEa, CarFinance.com, eCarList, PlaySushi, ArcadeWeb, Future Ads, Atrinsic Interactive, National Park Service, The Playboy Jazz Festival, the Avstar Navigator, CAO Cigars, Allen Edwards Salons and Lingerie for Less, as well as editorial assignments for The San Francisco Chronicle and Screen Actor Magazine, among others.

Cassandra Cavanah - Strategy and Account leadership: Automotive, Technology Lifestyle and Hospitality Specialist

Cassandra Cavanah is a senior PR executive with more than two decades of PR and marketing expertise. Her career began as a journalist in the tech and business space, which gives her a unique understanding of the media and its needs. Cassandra spent 10 years based in London where she was the Executive Director of Spafinder Wellness Europe, playing a central role in launching this US company in the UK. PR campaigns resulted in significant coverage in all major UK newspapers (including The Times, The Independent, The Telegraph) as well as major UK lifestyle publications.

At mWEBB Communications, Cassandra has served as the lead on key accounts, including consumer-facing Califia Farms, and B2B automotive clients, CallSource, CarStory, eLEND, among others. In addition, Cassandra continues to work within the spa and wellness tourism market with her hands-on role in PR efforts for the Global Wellness Summit, an annual gathering that brings together leaders and visionaries from every sector of the $3.4 trillion wellness industry. She has managed a variety of accounts for both publicly-traded and private companies in a variety of sectors, including technology, social media, spa and wellness, automotive, food and beverage, and her award-winning campaigns have resulted in extensive international newspaper and magazine coverage. 

Cassandra is a graduate of UCLA where she received a BA in English Literature.


 

Crystal Hartwell - Senior Accounts Director

Crystal Hartwell has over 15 years experience in public relations, investor relations and marketing communications. She combines deep knowledge of, and sharp instincts for, the intricacies of strategic communications, with an ability to manage responsibilities on multiple fronts.

Crystal began her career at Corelink as an investor relations specialist, where she coordinated investor activities for the Company, generating reports and working closely with senior management. In 2000, she joined Autobytel Inc., shortly after its highly anticipated IPO. As Manager of Investor Relations, Crystal worked closely with the CEO, CFO, and General Counsel, to manage the flow of financial and other information between the Company and financial community, as well as playing a key role in the generation of reports, investor profiles, and IR presentations and marketing materials. In the rollercoaster climate following the dotcom boom and bust, Crystal was a key player in helping maintain communications continuity “with” or “to” Autobytel investors. In 2003, she added public relations and marketing communications to her scope. As Autobytel's Manager of Corporate Communications, she was responsible for managing and coordinating all corporate communications, public relations and marketing communications activities for the Company, from trade show marketing to dealer communications and marketing to media relations.

Since 2011, Crystal has served as Senior Accounts Director at mWEBB Communications. In this role, Crystal heads up the coordination of key client accounts, including Califia Farms, DrivingSales, eLEND Solutions, PERQ and The Garagiste Festivals. She also runs mWEBB Communications social media campaigns, working with client teams to generate content, infographics, tweets and pitches across all relevant platforms including Facebook, Google+, etc. Crystal spearheaded, a major initiative for the AutoPartsWarehouse.com Heroes Automobile Gallery, which helped surprise our military veterans by reconditioning or providing much needed parts for their vehicle without any charge. The initiative also provides members of the military with a discount on auto parts and an opportunity to share pictures of their vehicle, and what it means to them, as well as a little about their military history.

The proud mother of two girls, a seven year old and a 14 year old, and in what is left of her free time, Crystal serves as layout editor / art director for The Fashion Business Mentor Magazine. 

 

 

Elizabeth Johnson - Media Director

Elizabeth Johnson began her career in entertainment/lifestyle public relations and marketing. She has a unique blend of expertise in both consumer and corporate PR and has overseen the launches and public relations campaigns of food/lifestyle companies, entertainment/lifestyle magazines, television programming, film festivals, and large-scale events.

Over the last two years, as Media Director at mWEBB Communications, she has worked on a variety of accounts including: PS I Love You Foundation, Coast2Coast Challenge, Restore Hetch Hetchy, The Garagiste Festival, AutoMD.com, AutoPartsWarehouse Heroes Automobile Gallery, among others.

In 2009, Elizabeth helped launch BlackboardEats.com, a foodie-driven restaurant review site and e-blast. Building the company from the ground up, as the Director of Partnership Relations, she oversaw sales and marketing in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, as well as BlackboardEats/Market, a national culinary review site. In this role, she also created sales and PR materials, oversaw quality control, and reported to senior level management to ensure consistent and vibrant content. She dove into the food and restaurant culture with gusto forming solid relationships with the community and press, attending related trade shows and events in the foodie space. She also recently edited two national lifestyle magazine prototypes with a food and lifestyle slant and consulted on the San Diego Film Festival.

In 2006, she launched two lifestyle magazine, Hollywood Covered and h Magazine, both full-color, glossy lifestyle magazines. As editor-in-chief for both publications, she led a team of writers, designers, and photographers, as well as assigned stories, booked covers and content, and also coordinated fashion shoots, online content, and ad sales.

As manager of consumer PR at E! Networks (2002-2006), Elizabeth launched dozens of reality series on both E! Entertainment Television and The Style Network. She worked closely with E! Online and E! News to position its hosts and columnists as experts within the entertainment industry. Additionally she handled the public relations strategy and execution on a variety of related industry events, television conferences, award shows, and premieres.

Prior to working at E!, Elizabeth worked at mPRm Public Relations (1999-2002), specializing in film, television, and emerging media and technology. At mPRm, she worked on the launches and public relations campaigns of new convergence companies including Napster, IFILM, and Hypnotic, as well as within the animation space helping to position such companies as Film Roman and Mondo Media in the online community. Also while at mPRm, she worked on a number of high profile film festivals such as Sundance and IFP’s The Spirit Awards.

An avid writer, Elizabeth has written for many different publications and websites including h Magazine, Hollywood Covered, Los Angeles Magazine, Shecky’s Bar, Club and Lounge Guide, BlackboardEats.com, Celebrity Sightings.com, and Fineline.com.

Caroline Schweich - Media Tours, Events, Production

Caroline Schweich’s attention to detail, ability to keep multiples balls in the air, and toughness negotiating on her clients’ behalf, combined with a deep background in public relations, marketing and production, have made her a successful producer and coordinator of multiple events, trade shows and conferences in a variety of industries, including automotive, entertainment, technology, social media, fashion, wellness, education, lifestyle and local government. Among the large-scale public festivals, she has produced are The Los Angeles Sister Cities Festival (a non-profit international organization), the annual American Jewish University Festival of Books and Concert Series, and the Green Drive Expo. Caroline has also produced and coordinated VIP sporting, travel, golf, and spa events for multiple clients. She was instrumental in growing the DrivingSales Executive Summit into one of the industry’s leading conferences. Additional conferences include The Canadian Dealer Forum, the Presidents Club, the annual Grill conferences for TheWrap News, as well as Ward’s Dealer Business Spring Training Program and the Los Angeles Sister Cities Trade Conference. Caroline’s production background also includes serving as a television producer with French production company Atlantique Productions, and a Public Relations producer at PR firm RBI Communications. Caroline is fluent in English, French and Spanish, has dual citizenship (US/EU) and has traveled extensively throughout the world. She is a graduate of Northwestern University.
